Houseplants are a bit more tolerant to warm than cold, but, serious heat can really cause some irreversible damage. There's a few things to watch out for when it comes to protecting your plants from the heat of summer. Here's what they are!
Move Houseplants Out Of Direct Sun
Did you know that the glass of a window can actually act like a magnifying glass? If you're starting to notice crispy or brown patches on the leaves of your houseplant, it is probably a sign that the light from the window is buring the leaves. Take a look in the afternoon in particular; is sun streaming in? It might be time to move your plants a little further from the window or use a sheer curtain to soften the rays.
Get Your Summer Watering Schedule Right
It's true that the heat of summer makes soil dry out faster, but its also important to know that harmful for your houseplants as well. Always make sure you check the soil to make sure it's dry enough before giving your plants a drink.
Increase the Humidity Around Your Houseplants
Hot air indoors often gets dry, leaving your plants thirsty. Group plants together, place a tray of water and pebbles nearby, or give them a quick mist to help recreate that tropical vibe they love.
Move Plants Away From Heat Sources
Take a look around your home. Are your houseplants sitting near ovens, or air vents that blast with dry heat? It's always a good idea to move your houseplants to a location that has even airflow.
Wipe Dust From The Leaves
Dusty leaves can’t breathe or photosynthesize as well, which makes heat stress worse. Wipe them down with our Leaf Cleaning Gloves to make sure they stay healthy and lush.
