So, you finally got your hands on a Monstera Thai Constellation. Maybe it’s your first rare plant, or maybe you’ve been eyeing one for ages and finally decided to go for it. Either way, welcome to the world of Thai Constellation care! While they share some similarities with their all-green Monstera cousins, they do have a few different needs to keep in mind. If you already have a thriving Monstera Deliciosa, you’ll have a great starting point, but it’s the differences that are important to watch out for.
Watering
The trick with a Monstera Thai Constellation is finding that sweet spot. You don’t want to leave it sitting in soggy soil, but you also don’t want to let it dry out completely.
Before watering, check the top few inches of soil with your finger. If it feels dry, it’s time for a drink. When you do water, give it a good soak and let the excess drain away completely. Your pot should always have drainage holes, as good drainage is one of the easiest ways to help avoid unhappy roots.
The key here is to water less often, but water thoroughly. Your Thai will let you know what it needs, so get into the habit of checking the soil rather than watering on a set schedule.

Light
Light is especially important for a Monstera Thai Constellation because of its beautiful variegation. The white and cream sections of the leaves contain less chlorophyll than the green sections, meaning they contribute less to photosynthesis. Your plant needs enough light to support the green parts of its leaves and keep producing healthy new growth.
Bright, indirect light is your best bet. A spot near a bright window works well, but avoid harsh afternoon sun, which can scorch those more sensitive variegated sections.
If your home doesn’t get enough natural light, our Instant Sun Grow Lamp can help give your Thai the extra light it needs. Think bright, consistent light without having to rearrange your whole home around a window.

Humidity
Your Monstera Thai Constellation will appreciate a little extra humidity, especially if your home tends to be dry.
If you notice crispy brown edges or leaves looking a little sad, your plant may be asking for more moisture in the air. Grouping plants together can help, and a humidifier is a great option if your indoor air is particularly dry.
You don’t need to turn your home into a rainforest, though. Just aim for a comfortable environment with some moisture in the air and plenty of good airflow around your plant.

Temperature
Thai Constellations are tropical plants, so they like things warm and steady. Keep yours somewhere comfortable and away from cold drafts, heaters, air conditioning vents, and sudden temperature changes.
If you’re comfortable in the room, chances are your Monstera will be pretty happy there too. Just keep an eye on colder nights and avoid placing it right next to a window that gets particularly chilly.
Feeding Your Thai Constellation
Your Thai Constellation may grow a little slower than an all-green Monstera, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t need feeding. Regular nourishment helps support healthy roots, new growth, and those gorgeous variegated leaves.
The Wild Grow Concentrate is an easy way to give your Thai a nutrient boost. It’s an organic liquid plant food made with nutrients, beneficial bacteria, and enzymes to support healthy plant growth. Just shake, squirt into your watering can, and water as usual.

A Little Extra Love
Your first rare plant can feel a little intimidating, but don’t overthink it. Give your Thai good light, let the soil dry out a little between waterings, keep it warm, and give it the nutrients it needs.
With a little consistency, your Monstera Thai Constellation will have everything it needs to put out those beautiful, one-of-a-kind leaves.
