Why Do Flowering Plants Droop? Here's Our Guide To Diagnose!

Have you been given a cyclamen that isn't playing ball? Been trying your hand at growing some spring pot plants, only for them to fall, not flourish? There's a few different reasons that your flowering plants might start drooping. Whether you're noticing leaves and stems dropping, or flowers drooping, here's what could be the cause:

🌸 1. Your Flowering Plants Have Bloom Fatigue

It takes A LOT to look this beautiful! Remember, flowers take a lot of energy to produce, so if your pot plants have gone through a flowering spurt, they might be dealing with mini burnout. You might see drooping blooms or leaves as the plant shifts energy elsewhere.

💧 2. You're Underwatering Your Flowering Plants

This is a common culprit to drooping flowering plants! Without the right amount of moisture, your flowering plant can't keep its cells firm (aka turgid), so the leaves and flowers droop. If the soil feels dry and crumbly, it’s time to give your houseplant a drink!

🪣 3. You're OVERwatering Your Flowering Plants

We know, it can be hard to determine how to get watering right. Overwatering can drown roots, reducing their ability to take up water and oxygen—yes, even though the soil is wet. Is the plant drooping and the soil is a bit soggy? This is likely the problem.

🌞 4. Your Plant Is Stressed From the Heat

As the months get warmer, remember that too much sun or too much heat can cause plants to wilt, even if they’re watered. This goes for putting plants too close to heater, toasters and more! Did you know that the drooping is a defense mechanism to reduce water loss. They’ll usually perk back up once things cool down.

🐛 5. Pests or disease

Sap-sucking bugs like aphids or spider mites can cause your plants to droop because they tend to mess with how they move nutrients throughout their system. Fungal diseases can cause stem or root rot, leading to dramatic droopiness.

💥 6. It’s Low On Nutrients

Often, your plants need a little flowering pick me up! Give your flowering plants a good dose of Bloom Concentrate everytime you water, to maintain long lasting, vivid flowers.
