We are in love with some of those incredible climbing plants. Green babes like pothos, philodendrons, and monsteras can make a space look full; whether they cascade from a houseplant pot, or climb up a grow pole. Now we're coming out of winter, you might notice your climbing houseplants looking a little sparse...not good!
If you want a big, bold, bushy queen - read on!
1. Give Your Climbing Plants a Trim ✂️
It might seem a bit strange, but pruning your plant can actually encourage it to grow more stems! Snip just above a leaf node (where a leaf meets the stem), and your plant will send out new growth from that point, creating a fuller look. Bonus: You can propagate the cuttings!
2. Train Your Climbing Plant to Grow Upwards 🌱
Stakes, poles or even wall clips can train your plant to grow upwards, just like the trunk of a tree! When climbing plants grow upward, they thrive like they would in nature, and you'll see larger, more full looking leaves.

3. Pinch the Tips 👌
This one is for the brave! Gently pinch off the very tips of new growth. It can force the plant to branch out from lower points, because it puts energy into growth elsewhere. It's a quick way to prevent long, bare vines.
4. Give Your Plants Bright, Indirect Light = More Growth ☀️
If your plant is getting leggy, it might not be getting enough light. Move it to a better spot, or use a Grow light to encourage more leaves.
5. Fertilize with Grow Concentrate and Enrich Powder 🌿
Synthetic fertilizer can cause plant stress, so use both organic essentials to promote new shoots, stems and healthy roots. A healthy plant will grow much better!
