Spring Plant Care Checklist: What to Do Right Now

Spring Plant Care Checklist: What to Do Right Now

It’s finally Spring, and we’re all ready for the huge growth our indoor plant babies are about to go through after Winter. No surprise that with the drastic change from winter to Spring comes changes to your plant care. We have popped together a quick guide on what to check and do for Spring to make sure your plants are getting the most out of the beloved season.

1. Spring Cleaning

Literally, get your Protect Spray out, your leaf cleaning gloves, and get those plant babies into a shower or wash their leaves down by hand. They need to be cleansed after a potential build up of dust during winter and to ensure they’re making the most out of the change in weather.

2. Feed them!
They’re in dire need of food right now. Plants during spring start pushing out new growth, whether they have nutrients or not which often leads to leggy growth, deformed leaves or yellowing. A sprinkle of Enrich Powder on the top soil every 2-3 weeks, paired with Grow Concentrate each time you water, and you’re all set for all that new growth!

3. Out with the old, in with the new
Time to check those leaves and make sure they’re pest-free, checking underneath them, at the base of the soil or even the stems. No bugs are allowed to enter this season, and this is the time they’ll be showing up for dinner uninvited. Chop off any of the browning leaves or overally yellow ones, we’re sorry, they’re not coming back, but they make room for bigger and better growth.

4. Check those roots
Carefully slide your plant out of its pot, don’t grab it by the leaves but by the base where it’s most sturdy. Are the roots doing okay? If not, time to repot; if they are, then great! Don’t need to worry about it till next Spring.

5. Airflow, get those windows open
Time to let in that fresh spring air for your plants. Good airflow is a great preventative for common fungal issues like root rot and powdery mildew. We tend to keep our windows shut during winter, but now it’s time to open them up.

We hope this quick checklist gives you the boost you need to get your plants spring-ready. Let us know if you have any questions: hello@wethewild.co
